Located 105 km north of Port Hardy in Wuikinuxv territory, Dawson’s Landing is a floating community situated 19 km up Rivers Inlet. It was first established in 1924 as a fisheries department station, and was used to supply goods to canneries, trappers and logging operations taking place in the inlet. The store was run by Jimmy and Jean Dawson, after whom the landing is named.
Dawson’s Landing continues to operate a general store and offers moorage for marine explorers in the region. A post office, government liquor store, and rental cabins are also available at the landing.
Dawson’s Landing can only be reached by private boat or float plane. Pacific Coastal’s Wilderness Seaplanes (see Zone 2) offers departures from Port Hardy to Dawson’s Landing.
There are no tour operators located at Dawson’s Landing.
